What are Cookies & Local Storage?

Cookies are small alphanumeric files placed on your computer or phone browser by websites you visit. They allow websites to remember actions, authenticate accounts, and save functional preferences over time.

Because PunjabiShelf operates primarily as an Android native mobile application, we rely on modern mobile equivalents, such as Local Storage (SharedPreferences) and Secure Key-Value Tokens. These technologies allow the app to store your preferences offline without injecting tracking cookies into your web browser.

Every stored value or token used on PunjabiShelf is tied to a functional feature inside the digital library:

  • Offline Book Experience: Preserves downloaded chapters and page states directly in internal storage.

Third-Party Services

We work with trusted cloud and platform infrastructure providers who handle technical tokens strictly on our behalf:

  • Google Firebase: Manages authentication tokens, real-time Firestore synchronization, and anonymized crash reporting to identify app crashes.
  • Cloudflare (R2 & Workers): Delivers encrypted digital book assets with rapid global edge caching.

Neither PunjabiShelf nor our infrastructure partners use your storage data to build marketing profiles or display external targeted ads.

Managing Your Cookies & App Storage

You have full, unencumbered control over what is saved on your device at all times:

  • Clearing App Data on Android: Open your Android device Settings > Apps > PunjabiShelf > Storage > Clear Storage / Clear Cache. This immediately deletes all stored preferences, saved pages, and offline files.
  • Logging Out: Tapping Sign Out in your app profile instantly purges local authentication tokens from memory.
  • Browser Settings (Website): You can configure your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari) to reject cookies or warn you before a cookie is received.
